What Is A Pcie X4 Slot

Hi i am looking to build a thin mini itx motherboard pc with dedicated graphics for gaming and i could only find motherboards with a pcie 3.0 x4 slot. It looks like if i want to enable the pcie x4 slot and actually have it run at x4 i have to disable pcie x1 slot # 3.

Hi, just a quick question.

What is a pcie x4 slot. Pcie bifurcation is no different to the definition i.e. A pcie card and mainboard will negotiate the connection to the fastest supported by both. The x16 slot, however, is a bit confusing to understand as the number 16 here after “x” does not always mean 16 lanes;

A pcie x1 slot is going to be of a smaller size, then x4, x8 with x16 as the largest among the four versions. The other two pcie x1 slots that the soundcard could go in are sandwitching the main graphics card x16 slot and one is totally blocked by it while the other is where the intake.
